Referred to as the home of the elephant family, Amboseli is found in the Rift Valley Province in Loitoktok district within Kajiado County. It offers a spectacular view of Mount Kilimanjaro located in Tanzania. You will note that most pictures of the park feature jumbos with the stunning backdrop of a snow capped Kilimanjaro. The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”. One of the two premium national parks in Kenya, Amboseli has five different habitats ranging from wetlands with Sulphur springs and a dried-up bed of lake Amboseli to savannas and woodlands.
Visitors can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture.
