Mount Longonot is another park in Naivasha with the main attraction being the mountain. Mount Longonot is a stratovolcano located southeast of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift valley of Kenya, it is thought to have last erupted in the 1860’s and its name is delivered from the Maasai word Oloonong’ot, meaning ‘’ mountains of many spurs’’ or ‘’steep ridges’. If you are adventurous and love the outdoors, this is the ideal location for a fantastic hike with amazing views.
After a steep climb, you will be rewarded with great views of the extinct volcano, mountainous forest, and a scenic landscape at the crater’s rim. You will also get a perfect view of the geothermal steam coming from various fissures on the floor of the Great Rift, a reminder of the energy trapped beneath the Valley.
