Just as the name suggests, Nairobi National Park is located in Nairobi County in Kenya’s capital city. It is the only wildlife park located in a city in the world. If you are traveling to Kenya, this should be the starting point of your wildlife adventure. This Park is close to other attractions like the Nairobi Orphanage and Nairobi Safari Walk. You actually use the same gate to access these attractions.
It was the first park to be gazetted in Kenya on December 16th 1946. It is a rhino sanctuary for breeding and restocking other parks and has four of the Big Five (leopards, lions, rhinos and buffaloes). Although smaller in size when compared to other parks, it has a large variety of wildlife population and is one of Kenya’s most successful rhino sanctuaries. It has other attractions too like the Ivory burning site monument and walking trails at hippo pools.
